Most Commonly Asked Questions About Metal Bunk Beds

500_Platinum-bunk-main-photo-1If you're considering metal bunk beds for your homeless shelter, rescue mission or other overnight facility, then you probably have some questions. Most people do.

Keep reading to see some of the most common questions our customers ask us about metal bunks and find out if we answer one or all of your questions below.

Are metal bunk beds difficult to assemble?

Our metal bunk beds come with step-by-step assembly instructions that are fairly easy to follow. However, if you're not confident in your assembly skills, or you don't have time to put a bunch of bunk beds together, consider hiring an installation crew to do the job.

Do metal bunk beds come with a ladder and guard rails?

Ladders and guard rails are are sold separately from our metal bunks, and we make these bunk bed accessories to perfectly fit our beds. Our bunk bed ladders bolt onto your bunk, a design feature that allows one ladder to fit all of our bunks. Not only does the ladder fit the Model 4000 Bunk, the Model 5000 Bunk, and the Platinum and Model 4500 Collections, but it's also available in black or platinum finish so that it matches your bunk. Such versatility is what earned this ladder its name: Adapt-a-Ladder.

How long do metal bunk beds last?

Ultimately, the lifespan of your bunk bed depends on how you treat it. Typically, though, our metal bunk beds last anywhere from 10 to 15 years.

Do metal bunk beds rust?

Some metal bunk beds may rust, but ours do not. Made from quality metal and finished with a powder coating, our customers don't have to worry about their bunk beds developing rust, scale, pits, scratches, or buckles.

Can you paint metal bunk beds?

Technically, yes you can paint your metal bunk bed; however, we don't recommend it. Paint on a metal bunk bed is likely to chip, negating all of the benefits of having a high-quality powder coating that originally made your bunk bed's surface durable and dapper.

Are metal bunk beds recyclable?

Not only are all of our metal bunk beds made partially from recycled materials, but they're also 100% recyclable. So, when you're finished with your beds, you can recycle your mattresses along with your bunks. That's something to feel good about!
