Q & A with Hali

As CPA and blogger at American Bedding, what does an average week look like for you?

My role at American Bedding is somewhat of a catch all position. My daily work mostly involves things related to Accounts Receivable: invoicing, deposits, running credit cards, etc. I also have my hands in human resources, office management, sales analysis, and marketing, depending on the day. I enjoy the variation and being involved in so many different parts of the business.

How long have you been officially employed at American Bedding, and what made you want to join the family business?

I have worked small jobs in the summers since high school. I have been officially employed since 2015. American Bedding played a big role in my childhood and I decided a long time ago that I wanted to be involved. I love working with my family and didn’t really consider doing anything else.

How have your roles at American Bedding progressed over the years?

My responsibilities have developed over time. I started with the accounts receivable duties. Marketing and advertising were areas that had been mostly neglected so that is an area my sister and I have taken on. My role continues to evolve which is both exciting and challenging.

What are the biggest challenges of your job?

While wearing many hats keeps my job interesting, it can also be a challenge at times. There are days when it seems like everything needs attention all at once. But I have a great team and we always manage to get it all done.

What are the most rewarding parts of your job?

Working with my family is very rewarding. It is more than an 8 to 5 desk job for me. I really enjoy working with my sister in marketing. Being an accountant, I also enjoy producing and analyzing various reports with “upper management” otherwise known as Dad and Uncle Dale.

What is most important to you outside of work?

My family and my faith in Christ are the most important things to me.

What do you like to do with your free time?

With my free time, you can usually find me outside. We enjoy spending time on the farm, at the lake, camping and riding horses. I also enjoy cooking and time in the kitchen.
